A house on a snowy street at dusk. The garage door is halfway open; inside, a car’s taillights glow and its exhaust rolls out under the door.

Warming up the car? The door opens if CO builds up.

Exhaust builds up in a closed garage, and it isn’t safe to breathe. SafeGarage opens the door partway to let it out.

Not a CO alarm. Keep a certified CO alarm in your home.

From the driver’s seat at dusk: a garage door remote clipped to the sun visor, the house and its closed garage door out of focus through the windshield.

Going away? Shut off every remote.

One tap in the app and the opener ignores its remotes and keypads until you turn them back on.

Chamberlain and LiftMaster openers. The wall button still works.

The same house at dusk with its garage door wide open, bikes, skis, a tool chest and tools in plain view from the street.

Did I close the garage? Check your phone.

FAQ

Do I need a board for each opener?
Yes. One board runs one opener. Two doors with two openers need two boards, and the app shows both on its Home screen.
How does it work?
A small board wires to your opener with two wires and plugs into power. It joins your Wi-Fi and reaches our service, and the app on your phone talks to it from anywhere. On your home Wi-Fi the app talks to the board directly, so it keeps working when the internet is out.
Does it need a subscription?
No. Everything is included with the board, and it works from anywhere.
How hard is the setup?
Easy: the app walks you through it. Plug the board in, let the app find it over Bluetooth, give it your Wi-Fi, say which opener you have, wire it the way the app draws, and let it measure your door.
Does it work everywhere?
Yes, anywhere you have an internet connection. At home it works on your Wi-Fi even without one.
Which openers does it work with?
Chamberlain, LiftMaster and Craftsman, Genie, and most other openers with a wall button, but not openers made before 1993. The newest Chamberlain-built openers, with a white learn button, are coming soon. Check your opener.
Will it tell me if I left the door open?
Yes. You choose how long is too long, and the notification has a Close button right on it.
Can it open the door only part way?
Yes. Once the app has measured your door, you can open it a quarter, half or three quarters of the way.
Does it work in a cold garage?
Yes. The parts are rated for the cold, and the first boards are for Manitoba.
Can my family use it?
One sign-in owns a board, and a household shares it. Separate sign-ins for each person are coming later.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes, on your home Wi-Fi, with a key the app shows you. Keep that key to yourself: anyone with it on your Wi-Fi can open the door.
What about carbon monoxide?
A version that opens the door a little when carbon monoxide rises is in development. It will be a ventilation helper, not a CO alarm; keep a certified alarm in your home.
